Jalila is a professional dancer from New York who moved to Dubai in September 2015 to work as a full-time barre instructor. She began her dance training at a very young age, studying several techniques at the Alvin Ailey American Dance School. She also trained at several schools in New York City including Broadway Dance Center, Peridance Capezio Center, and Steps on Broadway, studying closely under the instruction of Sharon Wong, Robert Atwood, Roberta Mathes, Earl Mosley, Ronald K Brown, and Alfred Gallman. She later was invited to be a soloist for the Alfred Gallman Dance Company, touring the United States, East Coast. She also performed with several Musical artists such as, Jennifer Hudson, Patti Labelle, and Ashford and Simpson.
After suffering from a traumatic paralyzing injury, Jalila was introduced to the fitness world for rehabilitation. She started with Aqua, Reformer, and Mat pilates, Barre, and then Zumba. Being introduced to different forms of fitness during her recovery was the inception of Jalila’s passion for combining dance and fitness together, so she became dance cardio certified, with her first class at the HBO Corporate offices in Times Square.
From there she became certified in Zumba and Vbarre, teaching at several locations throughout New York City and North Jersey such as New York Sports Club, New York Health and Racket Club, and Equinox. Excited to take on a new challenge and be apart of a new fitness concept in Dubai, she was excited to become a member of the elite Orangetheory Fitness team. Jalila is passionate about inspiring and helping people reach their personal health goals, and she is elated to be sharing her love for health, and fitness with the amazing community in Dubai.
